BMW 1 |
Here we have the latest spy photos of the next-generation BMW 1 Series hatch spotted during cold weather testing in Sweden. We have close up shots of two different prototypes. A black and white hatch, with the last one also revealing us some of its interior.
New 1 Series will be available first in three and five door variants, featuring a longer wheelbase and wider track than the current model when it arrives later this year.
The styling will be similar to the rest of the new BMW range. The squared-off angel eyes look very similar to those found on the 5 Series GT and the bonnet is more upright than on the current model, reminding us the new 5 Series. The new 1 Series will also have side indicators mounted in the side mirrors.
Inside we can see red stitching on the steering wheel as well as a red stripe on the dash. Also easy to spot is the flip-up sat-nav screen.
One of the test drivers revealed, that the white prototype pictured below is powered by a 2.0 litre diesel engine coupled to a new 8 speed automatic gearbox.Engine line-up is rumored to get a new 3 cylinder unit, in addition to different 4 and 6 cylinder engines - both naturally aspirated and turbocharged.
